A homemade beef burger grilled to perfection on a Sahara BBQ is the ultimate summer treat. Here’s a step-by-step guide and recipe to make your burger stand out, complete with all the delicious toppings.

What you need For the Patty

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1 tsp salt – 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 garlic clove, minced Toppings:
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 1 large onion, sliced into rings
  • 4 slices of tomato
  • 4 leaves of lettuce
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 slices of crispy bacon
  • Pickles, sliced
  • Condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise)

What to do

1. Prepare the Patties

  • Mix ground beef, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and minced garlic in a bowl.
  • Form into 4 equal-sized patties, about ¾ inch thick.
  • Press a thumbprint into the centre of each patty to ensure even cooking.


  • Set your Sahara BBQ to medium-high heat.
  • Oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.


  • Place patties on the grill. Cook for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium doneness. Adjust the time according to your preference.
  • In the last 2 minutes of grilling, add a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.


  • On a cooler part of the grill, place onion rings. Grill until they are soft and slightly charred.
  • Toast the burger buns on the grill for about 1 minute until golden brown.


  • Place the grilled patty on the bottom bun. – Add crispy bacon on top of the patty.
  • Layer with grilled onions, tomato slices, and lettuce.
  • Add pickles if desired.
  • Spread condiments on the top bun as preferred.
