Ingredients
- 1 x 400g tin of quality plum tomatoes
- 1 clove of garlic (finely chopped)
- Small bunch of fresh basil leaves.
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Mozzarella
- Pizza base, home made or shop bought! (personally I love the Pizza da Piero bases)
Method
- Heat a small amount of oil in a pan on low heat, add the garlic and let it cook for a couple of minutes until lightly golden.
- Add the basil leaves( roughly half), the tomatoes and a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Leave the sauce to cook away for around 10-15 minutes to thicken up. When the sauce is nice and smooth, taste and season with salt & Pepper.
- Using a pizza base, homemade or shop-bought, spread the sauce on the base and sprinkle with sliced mozzarella and some basil leaves. Place the Sahara Pizza stone onto your gas BBQ and turn up to high. When the Pizza Stone is hot, turn off the burners directly under the pizza stone (indirect heat). Sprinkle a little flour on the pizza stone to stop the pizza from sticking. Place the pizza onto the stone and leave to cook for 5/6 minutes.Enjoy!!
Use your homemade pizza sauce right away, or store it in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
