Steak and Garlic Butter

Steak and Garlic Butter thumb

Life just seems simple and easy when you are relaxing in the garden and dinner is cooking away on the BBQ. There is something about a BBQ smell that is just magic and automatically makes you slow down and relax. With your Sahara BBQ, there are so many grilling options. Between the rotisseriegriddle panpizza stone – sometimes you just can’t beat a good old steak and chips!

What You Need

  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 3 tsp sea salt
  • 2 tsp pepper
  • 3 (10 to 12 oz) ribeye steaks

What To Do

  1. Give the steaks a generous sprinkle on both sides with salt and pepper, cover and refrigerate for 12 to 24 hours.
  2. Remove the steaks 20 minutes before you are going to grill them and leave them sit at room temperature.
  3. Preheat grill to high for 10 minutes.
  4. Place steaks on the grill and cook for 4 to 5 minutes (depending on its thickness), then turn over. Cook an additional 3 to 4 minutes for medium-rare (130°F). Using an instant thermometer check temperature and cook until the desired taste.

Temperature

Medium Rare: 130° – 135° F

Medium: 140° – 145° F

Medium Well: 150° – 155° F

A grilled sirloin steak coated with glorious garlic butter is one of my favourite things to do on our Sahara BBQ. It will have you licking your fingers with delight.

As we all know, sirloin steaks can be expensive, so if you are spending the money to get a great steak, be careful where you shop. I would recommend buying your meat from a trusted, reputable butcher if possible.

Getting ready to Grill…

Before grilling your sirloin steak, you’ll want to preheat your grill. Turn burners on the side of the grill you are cooking on to high. Leave the burners on the other side of the grill set to low – that side will still get hot, just not as hot as the side with the burners on high. Let the grills heat up for about 10/15 minutes with the hood down.

Don’t forget to give your grill a good clean before placing those expensive steaks on it. Using a grill brush, clean any debris off your grill grates.

Then, using a paper towel (dipped in oil) or a brush, rub the hot grill grates, being sure to coat all the grill grates with oil.

Grilling your Steak

Once the grill is ready to go, transfer the steaks to the high-heat area of the grill. Let them sear for 4-5 minutes on one side before flipping with tongs to the other side. Sear for another 4-5 minutes on that side.

Let’s not forget a very important step – resting the steak. The reason it needs to rest is because the juices need time to redistribute. Otherwise, it will just flow away, leaving you with a brown, overcooked piece of meat, which is not that appealing to anyone. When you are ready to serve, place a scoop of garlic and herb butter over the steak, then slice it and serve. Always add the butter after you remove the steak from the grill, so it doesn’t drip off into the grates.

Enjoy, and let me know what you think via our Facebook or Instagram.
