Ingredients

  • 1 half-full can of beer at room temperature
  • 1 1/2 pound whole chicken
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp kosher salt/pepper
  • 1 tsp sweet paprika
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp chili powder

Method

This recipe is perfect for the Sahara Poultry Roaster! Prep Time is 15 mins and it serves 4-6 People. Cooking time is 1hr 30 mins.

Preheat your Sahara gas bbq to high heat, with all burners lit.

In a small bowl, combine oil, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, paprika, chili powder, oregano and pepper.

Rub it all over the chicken and inside the chicken cavity.

Using the Sahara Poultry Roaster, place half a can of beer into the can attachment of the roaster. Lower the chicken onto the open can, so that it is sitting upright, with the can in its cavity. Sprinkle more kosher salt and black pepper all over the Chicken.

Place the Roaster in the middle of the BBQ and turn off the grills directly under the Roaster, leaving the burners on both sides on (this is known as “indirect heat”).

Reduce the heat to medium, shut the lid and walk away. Allow to cook, without opening the grill lid for at least 45 minutes.

Allow to cook for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
